Chennai: In Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and the police, the Moopila dispute has reached a new level. It is alleged that the act of stopping the police transport buses and imposing fines on the officials is widespread.. Valliyur traffic police officials imposed a fine of Rs.500 each on three TNSTC bus drivers for not wearing uniform and name badge properly. Similar incidents are said to be taking place in other parts of Tamil Nadu.
In the last two days, incidents of fines against TNSTC bus drivers by police officials have increased and the workers of the transport unions have asked the state government to resolve the issue.
Tensions have been simmering between the TNSTC and the police ever since a constable on a government bus refused to take a ticket and got into an argument with the conductor
