Mumbai: Manachee Shloka and Bhagavad Gita to be included in school syllabus in Maharashtra. It was decided in principle to recite the twelfth chapter of Bhagavad Gita and Manache Shloka composed by Swami Ramdas as a part of language study. The State School Curriculum Framework (SCF) Committee has sought public opinion on this.

The committee has prepared a new curriculum with emphasis on Indian knowledge. Students will also be introduced to the contributions of ancient India to the world.

As a part of this, students will be taught in detail about mathematical scholars like Bhaskaracharya and Aryabhata. Basic knowledge about the treatment system devised by Charakan, Shushruthan and Vagbhatan will also be part of the syllabus. Lifestyle of Indian sages, Guru-Shishya tradition etc. are also included in the draft syllabus.
