Indian stars shine at the Cannes Film Festival. Many stars, including from Malayalam, attracted attention in this international festival. It is the famous Assamese actress Aimee Barua’s dress that needs to be mentioned. While Kani Kushumi from Malayalam arrived wearing modern clothes, Aimee Barua attended the Cannes Film Festival wearing a traditional dress that exudes the culture of a country.

Aimee Barua is displaying her own culture to the world while Kani Kusumi came with a bag of chicken in the name of Palestine solidarity. Aimee Barua wore a muga silk mekhela sador embellished with ancient Assamese designs like goj bota and gam kharu. Goj bota design is an ancient pattern of Assam. Muga silk was a luxury during the Ahom dynasty and is still considered so.
