Ashtami Rohini celebrations began in Guruvayur with an offering of ghee and appam to Kannan

Guruvayur: The Ashtami Rohini celebrations started in Guruvayur on the eve of Kannan’s birthday by offering a pot of ghee and 301 pots of appam to Kannan.
The Nair Samajam Ashtami Rohini Celebration Committee carried the Naruvennakudam in a procession. Tantri Chennas Dineshan Namboothiripad received it from Chairman VP Unnikrishnan and offered it to the temple. Devotees poured appam into earthen pots wrapped in silk and placed them in front of the temple deepasthabam to see Kannan.
Temple Uralan Mallishery Parameswaran Namboothiripad, Administrator KP Vinayan, Deputy Administrator Pramod Kalarikal, Mammyur Devaswom Chairman GK Prakashan, Actor Sivaji Guruvayoor, Justice P Somarajan, Former MLA Rajanbabu, Thirupathi Mahadevaiyar, Councilor Shobha Hari Narayanan, and others took part in the dedication ceremony.
At the Mammiyur Nair Samaj Hall, Raman Namboothiri performed a puja at the Guruvayur Temple Kizhshanthi Keezhedam using about 7,000 appam made by the Namboothiris of Kakkad Ganapati Temple. Kallur Unnikrishnan and Suvarna Manoj offered bread and butter at the Mammiyur temple. The Ezhunnallip procession then began with panchavadyam and nagaswaram music.
Devotees dressed as Krishna, Kururamma, and Sudama joined the celebrations. V Achyutakurup, M Ravindran Nambiar, P Muralidhara Kaimal, and others presided over the event
