Guruvayur: With the start of month of Chingam, devotees inflow to Gurupavanapuri. Around 17 marriages took place on the first day of the month of Chingam. About 200 marriages are arranged on August 18, the first Sunday of the month of Chingam. On Monday, 41, 165 on 22 and 137 on 28 were booked for marriages. As of September 8, 261 marriages have been solemnized so far.
Guruvayur Devaswom Management Committee, has decided to impose special/VIP darshan restrictions on the intervening days of August 19 and 27 as an unprecedented rush of devotees is expected to visit the Guruvayur temple on the consecutive public holidays of August 18, 20, 25, 26 and 28.
This decision is to provide smooth darshan for all the devotees standing in the common line. Regular darshan control will continue on public holidays. On these days the temple opens at 3.30 pm. With this, devotees get one hour more for darshan.
Special/VIP, Local and Senior Citizen darshan facility will be available only till 4:30 AM on Sunday, August 18, when the ritualistic Illam Nira ceremony will take place. The darshan for those offering ghee lamp to the shrine will also end at 4:30 in the morning. This arrangement is due to the timing of Illam Nira puja vidhis and shiveli ezhunnellip. On the day of Illam Nira, the special darshan for babies who had done choroon will take place only after Pantiradi Puja. The Devaswom informed that regular control will continue on Ashtamirohini day as well.
