Guruvayur: Illam Nira, a symbol of prosperity and abundance,was performed with great devotion at the Thiruvenkidachalapati Temple in Guruvayur, often referred to as Kerala’s Tirupati.
On Sunday, between 6:20 AM and 7:30 AM, the auspicious Illam Nira ceremonies began. Outside the temple’s west gopuram, specially prepared rice flour was used to create a design. Kathir kareras, brought from Pazhunana, were used to purify the water and flowers for the aarati.
Temple head Krishnakumar Thirumeni, along with Bhaskaran Thirumeni and kizhshanthi Rudradas Thirumeni, led the devotees in bringing the offering inside the temple. It was then placed on the mandapam in front of the Lord.
After offering to Lord, Bhagavati, Upadeva deities, and the lower Kavil, the blessed sheaves were brought outside and distributed to the gathered devotees.
Temple officials Shashi Varanath, Sethu Thiruvenkitam, Balan Varanath, Shivan Kanichadath, and Hari Koutham were present for the ceremony. P Harinarayanan, TK Ananthakrishnan, and Manager P Raghavan Nair provided guidance. The temple’s Thriputhari celebration is scheduled for August 28th.
