Thousands of devotees witnessed the Illam Nira: Kathir Puja at Guruvayur Temple, a celebration of agricultural prosperity.

Guruvayur:This year, more people had the chance to see the Kathir Puja near the kodimaram at temple , close to the big altar stone. Along with this special worship, devotees could also receive Sri Guruvayurappa’s blessings. Everyone was happy to get the blessed grains quickly.
The ceremony took place from 6:18 AM to 7:54 AM on Sunday morning. People brought those freshly grains to the East Gate and offered them to the temple. The Kizhshanti Namboothiri carried these on their heads to the temple kodimaram. Melshanti Brahmashri PS Madhusudhanan Namboothiri performed the Kathir Puja with Temple Tantri Brahmashri PC Dinesan Namboothiripad. The worshipped grains were offered to Sri Guruvayoorappan and then given as prasad to the devotees.
Devaswom Chairman Dr VK Vijayan, Managing Committee Member KP Viswanathan, and Administrator KP Vinayan were there for the event.
Thriputhari, which continues the Illam Nira celebration, will happen on August 28th. It will be from 9:35 AM to 11:40 AM. Special Puthari Payasam and appam will be offered to Sri guruvayoorappan. The Puthari Payasam is especially important on these days.
