Guruvayoor: Retired employees of Guruvayur Devaswom, who have served as servants of Guruvayoorappan, are offering a ceremonial lighting of the ancient Deepastampam erected by Guruvayoorappan on August 17, 1909, at Thirunada, 115 years ago, on Chingam 1.
Pensioners begin the new year by dedicating a portion of their post-service pension to their beloved deity, Guruvayoorappan. The organization has mobilized a sufficient number of people to carry out the grand lamppost lighting ceremony, which was initiated three years ago.
Every year, the pensioners perform the Guruvayoor Ekadashi lamp offering, Bhagavathy pattu, elephant procession, and special pooja to Karyalaya Gapati. On Saturday, August 17, 2024, the Deepastambha on the eastern side of the Navatsara Day will be lit by the Pensioners Association.
