‘If Congress Was Dissolved After Independence, India Would…’: In Mumbai, PM Modi Recalls Gandhiji’s Advice

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said had Congress been “dissolved” after independence in 1947, the country would have been “five decades ahead from now”.

While addressing a public rally in Mumbai, PM Modi said, “The government who did not trust the capabilities of Indians, was inefficient… I have seen Prime Ministers who called Indians lazy from the Red Fort… PMs with such a mentality cannot develop India. Under the guidance of Gandhiji, if the Congress had been dissolved after independence, the country would have been 5 decades ahead from now…”

The prime minister further said that with “Modi 24×7 for 2047″ mantra, he is ” engaged with all his heart and soul” for a developed India.

“I guarantee that I am going to leave you with a developed India… That is why with the mantra of Modi 24×7 for 2047… every moment in your name, every moment in the name of the country… he is engaged with all his heart and soul,” he said.

PM Modi also expressed confidence that the results of the Lok Sabha election 2024 will “break all previous records” and “India will emerge as a huge power on June 4”.

“I have travelled across the country, and I can assure you that the results of these elections will break all previous records. India will emerge as a huge power on the 4th of June,” he said.

PM Modi visited Chaitya Bhoomi during his Mumbai visit and offered prayers. Sharing pictures of his visit to Chaitya Bhoomi on microblogging site X, the prime minister wrote, “Upon landing in Mumbai, I went to Chaitya Bhoomi and prayed there. It feels very special to come back here again. Every Indian is grateful to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for giving us a Constitution we take immense pride in. Our Government has always and will always strengthen the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar and the values enshrined in our Constitution. Jai Bhim!”

The prime minister also paid tribute to Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray and said, “Our Party and Alliance will always work to fulfil the great Balasaheb’s vision for our society.”

“Balasaheb Thackeray lives on in the hearts of countless people, especially in Mumbai. He was known for his bravery, commitment to India’s cultural regeneration and efforts to celebrate Marathi culture. I consider myself honoured that I got a chance to interact with him closely and also received his blessings,” an X post by PM Modi said.
